Maria is the founder and Managing Director of Sound Women, a network of over 1000 women working in audio.

Sound Women is committed to raising the profile of the women who work in the radio and audio industry – developing talent, pushing for greater opportunity, and celebrating achievement.

We launched early in 2012, with BBC Radio 1′s legendary Annie Nightingale in conversation with Miranda Sawyer, and now run an annual mentoring scheme in partnership with the BBC Academy and Skillset, have over ten active regional groups, release original research, and run regular networking events and training workshops.

We also recently ran our first festival - hosted by Radio 4′s Fi Glover, Magic 105.4′s Angie Greaves, & Radio 4 and 5 live’s Anita Anand – with a theme of ‘inspiration’.
